Open data can provide economic and social benefits and assist with improving government service delivery. It is clear that health data will not be fully ‘open’ in terms of how people view the wordfreely available to everyone. Instead it will become more ‘accessible’ under carefully controlled conditions, by clearly identified groups and for clearly defined purposes. There are a number of processes/ structures that facilitate this access. This session will explore:
- Development of an open data portal for healthcare
- Exploring the types of data shared on this portal
- Developing technology options that may allow more value extraction from data
